Funerals

Being a funeral pianist, I have had the honour of playing piano for many a funeral mass.

Music can offer something that words alone often can’t. Namely a sense of calm, beauty, and emotional grounding during one of life’s hardest moments. Live solo piano music creates a warm, human atmosphere that helps people feel connected—to their memories, to each other, and to the person they’re honouring.

Unlike recorded music, I can shape the mood in real time: playing softly as people enter, adjusting tempo to match the tone of the service, or offering a gentle musical pause when emotions are strong. The music becomes a supportive presence—never intrusive, always intentional.

It also allows for personalisation. I can perform songs that were meaningful to the person who has passed and their family, arranging them in a way that feels intimate and appropriate. Those melodies can help people remember, reflect, and even find a bit of peace in the moment.

Ultimately, booking a funeral pianist isn’t just about adding music; it’s about creating a space where grief feels held and where everyone can say goodbye in a way that feels thoughtful, warm, and respectful.
